Hike, Bike, or Ride the Trails
Lace up your shoes or hop on a bike because there’s no wrong way to explore the 37 miles of trails at Brazos Bend State Park. From shady loops around serene lakes to paths through hardwood forests, there’s a route for every adventurer. Don’t miss the Creekfield Lake Nature Trail, a wetland wonderland complete with a boardwalk and observation deck. Horseback riders can also enjoy 13 miles of multi-use trails, but don’t forget your horse’s negative Coggins test. Whether you're seeking a peaceful stroll or a bit of a workout, these trails are calling your name.
Grab Your Fishing Gear
Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first timer, the fish are ready to test your skills. With three peaceful lakes—Hale, Forty Acre, and New Horseshoe—and select spots along Big Creek, you’ll find plenty of prime fishing locations. No need to stress about a license when fishing from the shore or pier here, you don’t need one at a state park. Try your hand at reeling in largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, white bass, or sunfish. Just remember, it’s pole and line only, with a two-pole limit per person.
Overnight Adventures
From primitive campsites for the rugged explorer to spots with electricity and water hookups for a touch of comfort, the park has it all. Want something unique? Book a screened shelter with a ceiling fan or the cozy cabin featuring A/C, heat, and outdoor amenities like a grill and fire ring. Tents are welcome outside the cabin too! With picnic tables and nearby restrooms, it’s easy to kick back and enjoy the great outdoors.

As part of the Houston Museum of Natural Science, this observatory offers a stellar chance to marvel at the wonders of space. Be sure to purchase tickets online in advance, as availability is limited, and keep an eye on the weather to ensure a clear view of the stars.

Know Before You Go
Before heading out, make sure to plan ahead. Entrance fees are $7 for visitors 13 and older, while kids under 12 get in free. Texas State Parks Pass Holders enjoy complimentary entry. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., but it’s a popular spot and can fill up quickly. Reservations for camping and day use are highly recommended.
